Jesus is Enough

How many of us know Jesus is enough? In this vignette, I hope to show that Jesus is enough.  Jesus, You are enough and I pray that the words of this page speak of You, glorify Your name, and demonstrate that You are enough.

The writer of Hebrews 10:7 reiterates a Psalm of David 40:7 “Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of Me”.  The written word that we have in our bibles described as “living and powerful” (Heb 4:12).  The connection can be made then this idea that the one (Jesus) that the scroll of the book is written of is “living and powerful”.  How many of us testify to Jesus’s living in our hearts and being powerful in our lives?

John when writing his gospel begins by making the connection that although Jesus was born around 0-3 AD. That he was in fact eternity past.  Not from eternity past as though He had a start date but He is Eternity Past. Genesis is the book title with the meaning of The Beginning.  The very first words of the book of Genesis declare, proclaim, and solidify that “In the beginning God…created the heavens and the earth”.

I inserted the pause between the words God and created not as a gesture that there are millions of years between the words God and created.  That is a scientific community watered down Christians perspective that between the words God and created is millions of years. I do not believe this to be true.  I inserted the pause between God… and created to help us realize that God/Jesus was before the beginning of creation.  The beginning spoken of in this verse is the beginning of creation not God’s beginning.  The Holy Trinity was in perfect communion prior to “the beginning”.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.”

Furthermore, John states that in the beginning was the Word.  To reiterate, whose beginning?  That’s right, creation. The importance of understanding that God/Jesus was from eternity past and it was the Word “I come; in the scroll of the book” where we see the introduction of God and creation. This is such a “living and powerful” truth in our life that without beginning our day, beginning our week, beginning a task, a family, a ministry, that our journey begins with the Word of God speaking it & us into life. Philippians 1:6 “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ”

Moses writes in Genesis (26:24; 28:13; 50:24) and Exodus 3:6 the words given to him to say “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob reiterating the “living and powerful” point that God has had a plan for our lives.  That He has known our generations past and demonstrated Himself faithful to them with promises of His presence and life.  Genesis 26:24 “I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake”.

Matthew (22:32) comes on the scene when writing his account of Jesus’ life and uses this verse to drive home the point that “God is not the God of the dead, but of the living”.  This is an amazing truth where God declares to His people that I am your God and I give life, I give blessing, and I am faithful to My promises. This is such a powerful scripture for our day in that it really words to unite the world globally because Abraham would be considered a gentile or a non-Hebrew.  The God of Abraham means that He is the God of everybody and is inclusive to anyone who will put their trust in Him for salvation, for life, and blessing.  Take it a step further John (8:58) records Jesus saying; “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”  -Boom! Do you feel the mic drop!!!  All of those things we learned about God and Abraham and blessing and life was about Jesus.
